When should you stay away from all-over printing?
If you want a repeating design, such as polka dots, it’s easier to print the cloth as a whole before cutting and sewing it. You would avoid the issues that come with all-over printing this way. We’ll go over those later. Sometimes the design doesn’t line up with the back to front, but at Printsome, we’re experts at resolving these issues so you receive the best product possible. If you only want to cover the torso and not the sleeves, an all-over print might not be necessary. Some printers (like us *wink, wink*) have larger-than-average screens that may be able to meet your needs.
How do they accomplish it? Printing Techniques for All-Over Printing
All-over printing can be accomplished in a variety of ways; today, we’ll look at two of the most common: large-scale screen and sublimation printing.
What is Large-Scale Screen Printing, and how does it work?
Large-Scale Screen Printing is similar to conventional screen printing except it uses a massive screen that can cover the entire garment size of an XL male t-shirt! A popular procedure that may be done by hand or with an industrial “belt screen printer” equipment and can be done with any type of fabric.
The advantages of large-scale screen printing include: – 4th of july bald eagle mullet america independence day shirt
- It can be done on any type of fabric.
- Excellent quality of finish
- Durable
- When compared to other methods, it is quick.
Large-scale disadvantages Printing on a screen:
Because each tone necessitates its own screen, the price rises with each additional color. For modest orders, it is not cost-effective. Hyperrealistic or intricate graphics are not recommended.
What is the difference between sublimation and dye-sublimation printing?
Sublimation printing is a type of computer printing that employs heat to transfer dye to a variety of materials. The design is transferred to the t-shirt using a commercial heat press. The dye subsequently sublimates (turns into a gas instead of a liquid) and is absorbed by the fibres, which are commonly polyester and polymer-coated substrates. This means that the dye is now a part of the fabric’s make-up, which is why the design doesn’t bleed out in the wash! Even better, it doesn’t fade. 100 percent polyester, drirelease (85 percent polyester and 15% cotton), or 50/50 are the ideal fabrics for sublimation printing (50 percent polyester and 50 percent cotton). The base color is part of the print, thus all t-shirts start out white. As the ink is absorbed into the fabric, the 100 percent polyester option provides the best and most colorful finish. This option will produce the darkest and sharpest black color. The drirelease choice falls halfway between the other two — black will be a very dark grey. The cotton percentage also makes it feel softer than 100% polyester. Due to the 50 percent cotton mix, the 50/50 variant will not produce a sharp print but will be far more comfortable than the other two.
